Key traits that make multiplayer games successful
jakelevine: vruz: … 1. Mobbability - The ability to do real-time work in large groups or a talent for coordinating with many people simultaneously. 2. Cooperation Radar - The ability to sense, almost intuitively, who would make the best collaborators on a particular task. 3. Ping Quotient - Responsiveness to other people’s request for engagement and the propensity and ability to...

ATT AirCard
I just got an ATT AirCard in the mail to review (waiting on Verizon and Sprint units). It has worked very well so far–easy to set up and very fast where I am now.  I have two connection bars, but it is quicker than the WiFi here in the library, which is quite slow today.  My only complain is the usb card (a Sierra Wireless 881), is big and bulky.  I think they make smaller ones, but I’m not...

Do Not Reply. Seriously, Don't. →
Man oh man I wish I owned this domain.  mareen: nostrich: Every day, thousands of e-mails are sent (most of them automated) with @donotreply.com as the reply field. You’ve probably received a few yourself. What thousands of people are apparently unaware of is that someone owns this domain, and anyone unlucky enough to actually reply is sending their e-mail to a real person. A real person...

Evernote
Trying out the new Evernote beta.  I used to use this on my Windows box, and it was an adequate notetaking and braindump program.  But now that it has OCR and syncs with web, I am excited to test out its prospects. So for the OCR has worked great on typed text, but not so great on my chicken scrawl.

Great presentation on "Identity 2.0"
A little dated, and I know I’m behind the times posting this now, but Dick Hardt as a unique presentation style that really makes informaiton stick, plus gives a good overview of identity issues that are still important.  ETech 2006 — Who Is the Dick on My Site?

Good customer service
I use a word processing program called Mellel on my Mac to write my thesis. The other week, I was having trouble formatting images correctly, so I sent an email to support. When support (I think manned by the owner of the company) couldn’t explain how to fix my problem, I sent him the offending document, and he created a new style set to take care of the issue. Problem solved. Now that...

70%
Why is Apple only going to give the iPhone app developers 70% of the revenue from their apps? Seems kind of unfair… Even Microsoft lets devs keep it all, though it does not help with the software distribution as Apple will through iTunes store.

Trackstick →
For some reason I really want one of these.  It is a small GPS logger that tracks your movements. As Kevin Kelly explains: “Gets lost in your coat pocket, or backpack. You carry it around wherever you go. Once a month you download its records from its built in USB port and plot your course on an online mapping service, like Google Earth.” I’m not sure why I’d be...
